Central Configuration
Central Configuration capabilities
were introduced in the Summer 2006 release. These capabilities give you the ability to
centrally control and manage certain aspects of your CorasWorks workplace environment.
CorasWorks Central Configuration
is designed to support the distributed, modular architecture of the workplace.
The overall design is as follows:
-
The presentation tier
components are now "intelligent."
-
When called, they now talk to
the "brain" which is centrally configured to retrieve any configuration
information that has been pre-set for them to use.
Depending on the
type of central configuration that you choose to utilize, you can go to one
location to manage:
-
The behavior of web parts
dispersed throughout your environment, such as how many levels an
active display or Workplace View Advanced (WVA) can look down. This
can affect some or all of the active displays or WVA instances on a single site, on
several sites, or globally across your entire virtual server.
-
What information web
parts work with or display, such as having all of the active displays on a dashboard show information from Department A vs. Department B.
-
How various parts of a
distributed workplace application work together, such as having all
dashboards for a division controlled by a specific directory list.
