Outlook Integration

Showroom

CorasWorks integrates with Microsoft Outlook in a number of ways that enable you to do the following:

  • View your Outlook data within your SharePoint sites by dropping Outlook web parts into the interface
  • Display your SharePoint contacts, events, and tasks in a summarized "Outlook Today" style
  • Download SharePoint contacts, tasks, and events directly into Outlook for reminder notification and offline use
  • Replicate contacts, tasks, and events from multiple lists or libraries from the workplace into a single view in your off-line Outlook
  • Have quick, one-click access to workplace sites from your desktop

All these benefits are achieved through the CorasWorks Client, which provides:

  • Outlook Features in the Workplace

  • Outlook Replication from the Workplace to Outlook

  • One-click Workplace Access for quick navigation from the desktop into the workplace

When you log into your workplace, you can have your Outlook information appear with your SharePoint information. This enables you to manage your productivity without the need to maintain information in two separate locations and have two separate applications open. You can now view the contents of your inbox, calendar, tasks, and other Outlook information directly from within SharePoint. You can also download tasks, events, and contacts directly into Outlook for reminder notification and offline use. A sample image of My Workplace for Outlook running on SharePoint is shown below.

Since Outlook is the most commonly used program on the desktop, integrating it with your SharePoint workplace helps enforce user collaboration and efforts to share data with others. This improves process efficiency, as you no longer need to try to work in two different environments at the same time. And with My Workplace templates, you can create a My Site sub-site that enables you to manage your own separate My Workplace, rather than utilizing a shared approach that affects all users. Since My Workplace for Outlook does not require Outlook to be open on the desktop, your users will begin to see the workplace as a place where work gets done, instead of being concerned about what is on their desktop and what is on their intranet.

My Workplace for Outlook is completely customizable. Using the many configuration options of CorasWorks web parts plus the ability to use different site templates, users can alter the dashboards to meet their specific needs. Among these configuration options is the ability to cache information coming from SharePoint so round trips to SharePoint can be limited, improving overall performance. Users can specify the sites from which they want to roll up information and either view it in SharePoint or copy it into Outlook. Users can also view the most commonly used Exchange public folders and have the views at their fingertips directly within SharePoint.
