Generic Templates
Generic Template solutions are a
set of seven “starter”
templates which include a wide variety of navigation structures that can be used to
build your own custom solutions.
The navigation in these solutions is completely
list-driven, which allows the navigation labels and page locations to be added quickly and without
code development. Through the various navigation types, architects and designers
can have a better way to place the appropriate information on a given page,
while allowing a user quick access to the information that they need.
The Summer 2006 and
Winter 2007 releases of the
Workplace Suite include a template titled “Generic Dynamic Workplace Tasks.”
This template adds a navigation element for users to go to specific locations within
a workspace or throughout the workplace. This is driven by a list. However, that
list can contain an icon and text about the item.

This Workplace Tasks
template is similar to the Generic Cascading Tabs solution, which
provides a series of tabs, each with a two-level cascading menu.
However, the Workplace Tasks template also includes a custom display
which can be used to provide one-click user access to pages in the
current workspace or elsewhere. Each menu option can have an icon and
text. This configuration is also list-driven, following the same
standards of navigation as the other Generic Templates. |
