This solution provides a robust environment for a group of project managers to work together to effectively manage a group of projects. It contains a dashboard to aggregate the details of projects that the group is managing with a workspace for the team to coordinate their work on the group of projects.

Design

The Internal Project Group is part of a trio of solutions that cover different aspects of working with projects.

  • The enhanced Internal Project Teams solution is the classic project-oriented solution for a group of people to manage the work of multiple projects. It contains a workspace for people to work on projects and a dashboard that aggregates the work.
  • The enhanced Project Management Workspace solution is used for detailed project management for a large project.
  • This Internal Project Group solution is the third part of this trio of solutions. Different from the other two, it combines the dashboard benefits of Internal Project Teams with team workspace characteristics. In this case, the team is the group of people that are collectively the managers of the projects. The goal is to add to the dashboard the ability for the project management team to coordinate their work on the many projects that they manage.

As an enhanced solution, it utilizes a number of new capabilities of the Summer 2006 edition of the Suite to make the dashboard capabilities stronger, particularly more powerful actions to automate the work of managing project details. It also includes the use of color-coded calendars to display different types of meetings amongst the team. And, it makes extensive use of the Cross-Connect for workgroup collaboration.
