This solution provides a powerful workspace for project management. It is designed to support the management of a medium to large project that may span hundreds of tasks and a large amount of information. It addresses the situation where a project becomes too large with enough data that managing the work, even within a single site, becomes complex. It uses standard project management methodologies to improve the management of a project, including:

  • The relationships of project phases, tasks, and subtasks
  • The relationship of costs, level of effort, expenses, and resources
  • The management of risks and issues
  • The coordination of meetings and agendas

Design

The Project Management Workspace is used by a project team to more precisely and fully manage a medium to large project. It is designed with views configured to allow managers, team leads, and contributors to coordinate their activities and keep the project on track. Unlike other project workspaces, it is not focused on the work of contributors. This could be done in separate workspaces or dashboards that cater to making the detailed day-to-day work easier to manage.

Some core features of the Project Management Workspace include:

  • Project planning with phases
  • Ability to quickly see any items added to the project recently from the home page
  • Ability to track the core information of all types related to the project
  • Ability to create and manage relationships between tasks and sub‐tasks for each phase
  • Charting, including Gantt charts, for timeline and estimated/actual costs
  • Ability to track level of effort and expenses
  • Ability to track resource allocation and to see gaps in resource allocations
  • Ability to track and manage risks and issues
  • Extensive meeting management
  • Pre-configured actions to automate work within the workspace
  • Ability to modify actions or create your own to modify work

  • A Cross-Connect display of related tasks and subtasks, with the ability to create subtasks that are automatically linked to the parent
  • Ability to manage costs for levels of effort (time) and expenses, including an expense approval process

  • Ability to fully manage meetings and agendas and related them to the tasks, subtasks, risks, issues, resources, etc.
  • Ability to send an Email Notification when a request or document is added or edited, and specify the wording of the message
  • Ability to keep track of issues and resolutions, with views of all issues or only active ones
